Why We Need Revival

Why We Need Revival

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

The month of May is one of my favorite times of the year. Spring is in the air, and with it our annual Spring Revival. I love the special meetings that we have at Berean Baptist Church and I look forward to them very much. I love to hear the preaching from the Man of God, I love the praying and singing, but I especially love it when God swoops in and the presence of the Holy Spirit is evident. These are very special times for a church.
As much as we can plan to have a revival meeting, we cannot plan on having revival unless God’s people follow the command of God given in 2 Chronicles 7:14. In humility, we should seek after God through prayer and repent of our sins, because that is where revival begins…in our own hearts and lives. Just as God healed the land of Israel, he can heal broken hearts and lives, and give us the revival we long for. This kind of revival is a primary goal of your pastor.
But it doesn’t end there! Our church is filled with sinners, saved and lost. Our church has a great number of families that are affected by financial difficulties, serious health problems, and personal conflicts by the dozens. We need the hand and special favor of God upon us like no time before. Not only does God make the promise I already mentioned, but also continues to inform us that His “eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place”…Amen! What a blessed promise! We need the prayers that are made in “this place”, Berean Baptist Church, to not be hindered by our sin and iniquity. We don’t need good things to be withholden from us because of sin. We need the special attention of God given to our requests!
Please join us each night for the revival meeting with Bro. Paul Schwanke. I am praying that God will revive us again, and that His eyes and heart will be here at Berean Baptist Church perpetually. See you there!
